Exploring identity through color, shape, and gesture.

Rather than reproducing the human face literally, I break it into fragmented planes of saturated, unexpected color. Dark graphic forms anchor the portraits while loose brushwork allows recognizable features to dissolve into abstraction. My work is interested in the tension between what we see in another person and what we perceive beyond the surface.
